First Aid      

Participants will learn how to recognize emergency situations; avoid exposure to hazardous blood borne pathogens; care for wounds, bone and soft-tissue injuries, head and spinal injuries, burns, and heat and cold emergencies; manage sudden illness, stroke, seizure, bites, and poisoning; and minimize shock. Certification for this skill is good for three years. Must take with Adult CPR

 

 

Adult CPR     

Participants will learn how to call and work with EMS; care for conscious and unconscious choking victims; and perform CPR and care for cardiac emergencies in adults. This certification is good for one year.

 

 

Infant and Child CPR        

In addition to what is learned in Adult CPR, participants will learn how to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants and children under twelve years old. Participants will also learn how to develop an emergency action plan and to prevent and reduce hazards in home and play areas. Certification for this skill is good for one year.  This class must be taken along with Adult CPR.
 

 

 

AED Essentials       

Participants will learn how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) safely in the event you need to help the victim of sudden cardiac arrest. This certification is good for one year.

 Babysitter Training      

This course equips 11 to 16-year-olds with the knowledge and skills to care for infants and school-age children. This course combines video instruction, activities, hands-on training, and discussion. Participants will learn how to respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing, and other appropriate care; make decisions under pressure; communicate with parents to learn household rules; recognize safety and hygiene issues; and to feed, diaper and care for infants. This class will last approximately 6 hours.
Class price  $40.00

Certified Nurse Assistant Training      

This program consists of coursework that includes learning:

  • Medical Terminology
  • Basic Human Anatomy
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Caring for Patients with Alzheimer's Disease
  • Hands-On Experience in an Actual Health Care Setting 

This is a 3 week class that meets Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.  The class is held at our Cartersville training facility.  The cost for the class is $660.  This includes class fee, book, materials and testing fee. 

 Water Safety Instructor (WSI)           

This course provides instructor candidates the training needed to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants' progress. This course, which lasts approximately 30 hours, has an age requirement of 16.   This class is offered in May only.

 Lifeguard Training     

This is a comprehensive course that prepares participants to be employed as lifeguards. This course has been updated to meet Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) 2005 Guidelines. Course features include CPR and First Aid skills; skills-based scenarios and decision-making; and a consolidated manual that contains course information for Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED essentials, Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer, Preventing Disease Transmission, and Water park and Waterfront Lifeguarding.  This class is offered in May only.

CPRO - CPR for the Professional Rescuer
 
This course is designed for medical professionals, lifeguards and others who need advance CPR training.  Class includes: Recognizing and responding to breathing and cardiac emergencies, Two-rescuer CPR, Use of body substance isolation precautions to prevent disease transmission, Use of resuscitation and bag-valve masks, Use of an AED.
Class price: $60
